As a get-your-hands-dirty kind of girl, Anna learns by doing. When she gets a wild hair, she puts her head down and digs in. Sometimes, this has backfired spectacularly. She’s gotten used to finding herself clinging to the side of a cliff with no gear left on her climbing harness and digging her snowboard out of a tree well for the millionth time. The trick, she’s found, is in still having fun. Most of the time, she is, whether it’s waiting out a storm in a tent at the base of the Matterhorn or finding out how hard concrete is while trying to impress kids half her age at the skate park. Her tendency to push hard against life is tempered by an equal measure of delight in just staying put. She’s just as happy writing frighteningly bad songs on her guitar, baking her dog a birthday cake, attempting to green her thumb on unsuspecting tomato plants, and throwing back shots of bourbon over a heated game of Euchre. Her lifelong fascination with rocks, while it’s meant a rough day for anyone that’s ever helped her move, has culminated in a career as a geologist in Durango, Colorado. She recently fell head over heels, this time not literally, but in love. She currently lives with her husband and two cattle dogs, dividing her time between rocks and writing.
